Sri Lanka College of State Scientists (SLCSS)
The Sri Lanka College of State Scientists (SLCSS) is a distinguished professional body representing officers of the Sri Lanka Scientific Service. It was established to advance scientific research, innovation, and professional excellence among state scientists, overcoming the limitations of traditional trade unions in supporting academic and technical endeavors.
Recognizing the challenges faced by State Scientists in conducting critical tasks such as academic research, in-house method development, and innovation, it was identified the need for a dedicated professional organization. After extensive deliberation and collaborative efforts, the Sri Lanka College of State Scientists (SLCSS) was founded to empower state scientists, enhance professional standards, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
Objectives of SLCSS
The primary mission of SLCSS is to advance science and uphold professional standards in research, education, and scientific practice. To achieve this, the organization is committed to:
- Promoting Scientific Advancement – Encouraging research, fostering scientific methodologies, and nurturing interest in innovation and education.
- Serving as a Central Scientific Authority – Acting as the key body for information sharing, coordination, and monitoring of scientific developments in Sri Lanka.
- Facilitating International Collaboration – Strengthening ties with global scientific communities, fostering knowledge exchange, and sharing research insights.
- Upholding Professional and Ethical Standards – Ensuring technical, academic, and ethical integrity in the scientific profession to maintain quality and credibility.
- Advising Government and Industry – Providing expert guidance to government, educational institutions, and industrial sectors on scientific research, education, and policy matters.
Through these initiatives, SLCSS strives to create a dynamic scientific ecosystem that empowers professionals, drives national progress, and strengthens Sri Lanka’s position in the global scientific community..
